Springfield Police investigating fatal motorcycle accident

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A Panama City Beach man is dead following an accident at East 11th Street and Transmitter Road Thursday night.
According to the Springfield Police Department when officers arrived at the scene, they found the driver of a motorcycle with serious injuries.
Officers said they began life saving measures until Springfield Fire Rescue and Bay County Emergency Medical Services could arrive.
Despite these efforts law enforcement says the victim was declared dead at the scene.
According to the police department the investigation into the crash determined the motorcycle was traveling north on Transmitter Road and a Nissan van was traveling south, both approaching E 11th Street.
The van reportedly began to turn left on E 11th and was focused on a pedestrian improperly crossing the road and did not see the motorcycle.
Investigators said the van then turned in front of the motorcycle and the two crashed into one another.
Police said the victim has been identified as Alvin Parrish of Panama City Beach. The driver of the van was uninjured.
According to law enforcement the driver of the van was cited for Failing to Yield to Oncoming Traffic When Making a Lefthand Turn.
Springfield Police also said at this time, no criminal charges are expected.
