
Vietnam’s social insurance climbs by 9% YoY in Q1 2025
Participants in unemployment and health insurers also increased during the quarter.
In the first three months of 2025, Vietnam Social Security reported 18.821 million social insurance (SI) participants nationwide, an increase of 1.496 million people (8.63%) compared to the same period in 2024.
This includes 17.072 million compulsory participants (up 7.53%) and 1.749 million voluntary participants (up 20.74%).
Unemployment insurance (UI) participants totaled 15.357 million, an increase of 1.192 million (8.42%) year-on-year.
Health insurance (HI) participants reached 92.104 million, an increase of 2.004 million (2.22%) from 2024.
The number of new monthly pension and SI benefit recipients rose by 28.12%, reaching 19,638.
There were also 2,463,004 instances of sickness, maternity, convalescence, and health recovery benefits accessed, a 2% increase compared to the same period last year.
