It means hundreds of staff can enjoy a day off before opening again at 8am on Easter Monday.

Branches in Scotland will stay open on Easter Sunday.

The German discounter tends to always close its stores during major bank holidays, such as New Year's and Christmas Day and Easter.

The day off is part of Government rules which state that shops in England and Wales larger than 280 square metres have to close on Easter Sunday and Christmas Day.

And it's not just Aldi that is shutting up shop; Sainsbury's, Lidl, Morrisons, Tesco and Iceland will also be closed.

But brands which have smaller express stores, such as Tesco and Sainsbury's may choose to keep these stores open.

You can check out all the opening hours of your favourite stores by clicking the link here.

You can find out more; you can also visit the "store locator" section of your chosen retailer's website page.

What are Aldi Specialbuys?

Aldi isn't the only store that will be closed for 24 hours over the weekend, with supermarkets such as Tesco, Asda and Lidl also shutting shop.

Aldi also said that it would give customers a chance to reserve one of its Too Good to Go bags earlier than previous years.

Shoppers in England and Wales will be able to order the bags of surplus food from Monday April 14 for collection on Saturday 19.

Customer are charged £3.30 each for the package which contains at least £10 worth of food approaching its sell-by or use-by date.

It comes as Aldi has slashed the price of its vegetables to 15p to help shoppers save this Easter.

To sign up download the Too Good To Go app on your smart phone and search for your local Aldi.

The deal will be available in stores from April 15.

Shoppers have also been raving about its hot cross buns, which are scanning for 99p in stores.

They come in many flavours including White Chocolate paired with Raspberry and Banoffee.

When's the best time to shop at Aldi?

WHEN it comes to shopping at Aldi, the best time to do so depends on what you want to buy.

For reduced items - when shops open

Red sticker items are rare at Aldi's 830 UK stores, but the supermarket says that none of its food goes to waste so there are some to be found - if you're quick.

A spokesman for the supermarket said: "All items are reduced to 50 per cent of the recommend sales price before stores open on their best before or use by dates."

That means you have the best chance of finding reduced food items if you go into stores as soon as it opens.

Opening times vary by shop but a majority open from 7am or 8am. You can find your nearest store's times by using the supermarket's online shop finder tool.

For Specialbuys - Thursdays and Sundays

Specialbuys are Aldi's weekly collection of items that it doesn't normally sell, which can range from pizza ovens to power tools.

New stock comes into stores every Thursday and Sunday, so naturally, these are the best days to visit for the best one-off special deals.

For an even better chance of bagging the best items, head there for your local store's opening time.

Remember: once they're gone, they're gone, so if there's something you really want, visit as early as possible
