Two young brothers will race each other to raise money for a charity that helps military children.

Tidworth brothers Zac and Louie Neilly, aged 11 and nine, will be among 150 youngsters participating in a special event at Tidworth Oval on Sunday, April 13.

Their goal is to raise money for Little Troopers, a charity that has supported them since they were toddlers.

The event is part of the celebration for the Month of the Military Child and is open to the public.

Andali Events will lead the day, and all races are open to the public.

Service personnel, military families, veterans and community members are encouraged to participate.

The Neilly brothers, whose dad serves in the British Army, have benefited from Little Troopers' support since a young age.

The charity has helped them with resources during their dad's overseas deployments and has been a constant support through their five house and school moves.

Their mum, Rachael, said: "Little Troopers is such a special charity to our family.

"The work they do, raising awareness of the issues military children face, is really important.

"We’ve turned to the charity many times over the years.

"It’s important for children to know that they are not going through these things alone and Little Troopers does a great job of making sure all forces children feel recognised and celebrated.

"The boys are excited to attend an event with so many other little troopers, but the real question in our household is who is going to win the race?

"Both of them are determined to take first place."

Zac and Louie have previously raised funds for Little Troopers and aim to surpass their £400 record with support from the local community.

Little Troopers is the only UK charity dedicated to supporting children with parents in the British Armed Forces.

Louise Fetigan, the charity's founder, said: "We’re looking forward to bringing together the local Tidworth and Salisbury Plain community in support of all the amazing little troopers in our British Armed Forces community. It’s going to be a really fun day.

"It doesn’t matter if you just want to run the 10k or if running isn’t your thing and you just want to come along to the family fun run and take part in the activities."
