NWS confirms EF-1 tornado in Wilson County

LEBANON, Tenn. (WSMV) - The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF-1 tornado touched down in Wilson County on Thursday.

The tornado had 105 mile per hour winds and was 11.6 miles long and 300 yards wide.

NWS said the tornado started near Vesta Road, which is just East of the Nashville Superspeedway. It caused tree damage and some minor structural damage.

The tornado continued near Flatwoods Rd. and Murfreesboro Rd. and caused additional damage there including damage to homes and trees in the area.

The EF-1 then crossed to Cedar Forest Road where significant timber damage was found. NWS said several trees were snapped and uprooted near Steeplechase Dr. Some homes in that area also received minor roof damage, NWS said.

NWS said the tornado continued crossing Chicken Rd. and SE TaterPeeler Rd., where it caused minor structural damage and damaged trees.

The tornado then crossed Cainsville Rd. and Sparta Pike where some farm structures were damaged along with some trees before it dissipated near Shop Springs Rd.
