Iowans Can Expect Gas Price Creep As Demand Rises With Temperatures

Iowa (RI) — Gasoline prices in Iowa have risen about 12 cents a gallon on average over the past month, but they’re still down about 25 cents a gallon from a year ago, according to Brian Ortner at AAA Iowa.

As we shift from winter to spring weather, he anticipates more fluctuations in gas prices as Iowans’ driving habits change.

The current statewide average for gas is three dollars and five cents a gallon, which is the same as a week ago.

AAA says Iowa’s cheapest and most expensive gas prices are both in eastern Iowa. The average in Davenport is two 95 a gallon, while in Dubuque, it’s three 21.

Meanwhile in our part of the state, a check of prices on gasbuddy.com on Friday afternoon showed that there are prices near to both the statewide high and the statewide low. The lowest price in our four-county area is $2.99. Drivers in Primghar, Rock Rapids, and Hawarden are paying that price. It’s a dime more ($3.09) in most of the towns in the area, including Sheldon, Sanborn, Hartley, Sioux Center, George, Paullina, Alton, and Orange City. It’s a nickel more than that, or $3.14 in Sibley. And Hospers has the highest price reported, at $3.19 per gallon.
