Grand Hyatt debuts in Spain with sports-focused Murcia opening

The 192-key Grand Hyatt La Manga Club Golf & Spa resort has become the first Grand Hyatt to open along the Mediterranean coastline.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation partnered with property owner Grupo Inversor Hesperia to open this Grand Hyatt branded resort in the exclusive golf destination.

Resort transformation

Grand Hyatt La Manga Club Golf & Spa is now open following an extensive refurbishment. This hotel within the prestigious La Manga Club Resort in Murcia, southeast Spain, takes inspiration from the area’s Mediterranean architecture, Moorish influences and natural beauty.

Room 1804 international design firm led the design of this property’s interiors now delivering a sense of place through a sophisticated aesthetic that encourages guests to unwind.

The property has three of the best 18-hole golf courses in Europe on site, as well as a golf academy and practice centre. Other on-site sports facilities include The Racquets Centre with 28 tennis and seven flood-lit paddle courts and some of the best cricket facilities in southern Europe. The professional La Manga Club Football Centre features eight natural grass FIFA-sized pitches and a 750-capacity stadium.

Commenting on the opening, Javier Águila, group president EAME, Hyatt, said: “Scaling our luxury, lifestyle and leisure portfolio is central to Hyatt’s plan to grow our brand presence across Europe. We are grateful for our continued collaboration with Grupo Inversor Hesperia, in making Grand Hyatt La Manga Club Golf & Spa a striking example of the Grand Hyatt brand delivering on its promise of celebrating the iconic in both the small details and magnificent moments.”

The CEO of Grupo Inversor Hesperia, Jordi Ferrer, added: “The arrival of the Grand Hyatt brand in Spain via La Manga Club is undoubtedly an important step for our company and for the Spanish tourism sector as a whole. We are convinced that with this new hotel, distinguished by the exclusiveness of its services and location, we are going to offer unique experiences to our clients and generate new value for the Murcia Region.”

A luxury destination

The hotel is home to 192 guest rooms, including seven suites, which make the most of the hotel’s idyllic location overlooking Calblanque natural park and the Mediterranean Sea. Rooms decorated in natural colours come with amenities like spa-inspired marble bathrooms.

A highlight of the hotel transformation is its new 18,298-sq-ft wellness centre. The Arabian-inspired Alma Spa offers therapies using Natura Bissé products in a space encompassing six treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy pool and multi-sensory circuit. The spa is then joined by an adult-only infinity pool with views over the golf course, an outdoor family pool and fitness centre.

Guests can dine at 11 distinct dining venues ranging from an Italian trattoria to izakaya sushi bar and the fine dining beachfront La Cala restaurant. Events are hosted in meeting and event space spanning a total of 13,863 sq ft, including the 4,305-sq-ft Grand Ballroom.

“Every Grand Hyatt hotel is carefully designed as a destination within a destination and the newly opened Grand Hyatt La Manga Club Golf & Spa sets the bar high when it comes to delivering a luxury travel experience with an abundance of options for our discerning guests,’” said Ángel Holgado, general manager at Grand Hyatt La Manga Club Golf & Spa.

“We’re very proud of our new property, and confident that its meticulous balance of inventive cuisine, elevated service, world-class facilities and holistic pampering will prove a winning combination for anyone seeking out the ultimate place to escape to along this spectacular stretch of Mediterranean coastline.”
