Doha: Msheireb Downtown Doha, the sustainable and smart city developed by Msheireb Properties, shared with the world its celebration in Earth Hour to contribute to environmental awareness, conservation of our natural resources, and to reduce energy consumption.

As part of the celebration, the lights in Al Kahraba street at the downtown, which was the first-ever street to receive electricity in Qatar, were turned off on Saturday, March 25, from 8:30pm to 9:30pm.

Earth Hour is celebrated on the last Saturday of March every year, and countries across the world participate in this event. The goal of this event is to raise awareness of the harmful gases emitted by electricity consumption and to encourage individuals, communities, homeowners, and companies to turn off unnecessary lights and electronic devices for one hour.

Through this initiative, Msheireb Properties seeks to inspire individuals and organisations to show their commitment to environmental behaviour and take a stand for the planet. It also indicates that individual and organisational solidarity is vital to combat the consequences of climate change.
