Ras Markaz aims to be Middle East's largest crude oil storage project

Muscat: "Ras Markaz" for storing and exporting crude oil received the first shipment of crude oil to secure the needs of the Duqm Refinery at the beginning of the first quarter of the year 2023.

The global integrated energy group "OQ" has completed the basic construction works of the first phase of the Ras Markaz crude oil storage and export project, with a storage capacity of about 26.7 million barrels. The project was connected to the refinery through an 80-kilometre pipeline, and eight huge tanks were built to store the oil for the refinery.

The general manager of the Ras Markaz project confirmed to Oman News Agency that OQ aspires to make the Ras Markaz project the largest crude oil storage project in the Middle East, to serve as an important global centre for trading crude oil, given the strategic location overlooking the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean.
