A working group assembled by Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon in June to seek solutions to rising fuel prices is calling for an increase in oil refining capacity in the state.

"Oil is one of Wyoming's largest exports; on the other hand, due to refining capacity, fuel has become one of the largest imports,” explained state Sen. Ed Cooper, a task force member. “As a longer-term solution, seeking ways to expand our refining capacity will help keep the cost of gas lower at the pump for Wyoming."

The Gas and Diesel Working Group was comprised of members spanning both private and public sectors. In July, the working group hosted two public meetings where testimony was provided related to possible options that could be explored.
