Croatian Minister of Culture & Media, Nina Obuljen Koržinek, underlined the impact of disinformation on the environmental protection sector, speaking at an international conference in Dubrovnik on Tuesday.
At the “Sustainable development in the Mediterranean-The Role of the Media” conference, organized by the Croatian News Agency (HINA), Koržinek underlined that the role mass media can play against disinformation in this sector is crucial. She noted that information released by media on this specific research must be reliable.
Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA) President & General Director Emilios Perdikaris spoke of ANA’s “dual role” at the “Achievements & challenges in the sustainability sector – Actions by businesses & media” panel.
Elaborating, Perdikaris said that “in addition to our constant concern for environmental and sustainability issues (…) we encourage the coverage of issues related to circular economy, green development and energy saving, not only by one-off reports, but mainly by covering relevant conferences, and also by becoming their communication sponsor.”
“We, being news people, have to promote businesses that take a more sustainable approach, and put environmental protection at the heart of their business models,” he stressed.
At the conference, HINA presented its new web portal ‘Green Croatia’. Mayor of Dubrovnik Mato Franković also spoke of municipal policies towards an effective sustainability model for the city’s tourism.
The Dubrovnik forum was organized in the context of the General Assembly of the Alliance of Mediterranean News Agencies (AMAN), that will be held there on Wednesday.
