Haiti - Economy : Towards the completion of the 6th Phase of the Caracol Industrial Park extension plan
At the end of an important videoconference on the extension of the Caracol Industrial Park (PIC) in which participated Patrick Boisvert, the Minister of the Economy, Rodolphe Daniel, the Directors of the Caracol PIC Industrial Park participated among others), Yvon Mellinger the Representative of the IDB in Haiti accompanied, of representatives of the United States Embassy in Haiti, executives of the IDB and representatives of companies installed in the Park, the parties agreed that the 6th Phase of the plan extension of the Park will be started.

This work, which will be financed by the IDB to the tune of $65 million (after approval by the Bank's Board in February 2021), which will create 5,000 additional new jobs, will include the construction of 4 new buildings of 12,000 m2 for to accommodate factories, a 5,000 m2 building, a 10,500 m2 warehouse, two new 1,600 m2 canteens and the rehabilitation of 3 others as well as a parking area for the 120 private public transport vehicles, which transport nearly 5,000 daily workers between Cap-Haitien and the PIC.

Also note that as part of the project to Improve Access to Electricity in Haiti, a 12 Mw solar energy production plant to supply the PIC and neighboring communes is currently under construction at the Park.

Currently and in compliance with health protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19, the PIC is working at full speed with nearly 17,000 employees.
