Employees of the Transmission Company of Nigeria under the aegis of the Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies, TCN Branch, have reiterated their dedication to power sector growth, even as elected new officers for the group.

In a statement issued by the union’s Public Relations Officer, Gabriel Amiji, the workers assured power users in Nigeria that with the emergence of the new executives, they would further push for the stability of the national grid.

This, according to them, will not only help in stabilising the grid, but enhance power supply and delivery nationwide. The TCN manages Nigeria’s electricity grid.

On the election, Amiji stated that new executives were elected during the recent TCN Branch Congress and Seminar in Akure, Ondo State, adding that the team would pilot the affairs of the SSAEAC at the transmission company.

The association noted that among the 19 elected officers were the Branch President, Dairo Abidemi; the Secretary, Yerima Hassan; and the PRO, Gabriel Amiji.

It said regional branch presidents were elected for the nine regions of the TCN, comprising Abuja, Shiroro, Kaduna, Bauchi, Osogbo, Port Harcourt, Enugu, Benin and Lagos.

Other positions filled during the elections are the branch treasurer, assistant secretary, three trustees, among others.

Commenting on the process, Abidemi said the election was done in accordance with the provisions of the association’s constitution Rule 6.

He said the rule also empowered the union to forward the names of the elected delegates to the general secretary of the national body of SSAEAC.

Abidemi was quoted as saying, “The TCN Branch acted in accordance with the provisions of the association’s constitution with an attendance of 90 per cent of the branch and chapter executives from all the TCN regions.”

He noted that the election was transparent, orderly and credible, adding that the process was recorded on video for posterity.
