The negotiations are in progress, and I hope that we will succeed in resolving this matter within this year because it is important not only for the development of bilateral relations with Russia, but also for the EAEU [(Eurasian Economic Union)], in general.

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, stated the aforesaid in an interview with Russian News Agency TASS. He noted this when asked about the course of the ongoing negotiations on reducing the price of Russian natural gas being supplied.

In Pashinyan’s words, the substance of the EAEU—which comprises Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan—is that a single economic space is created.

“And so that the single economic space is established, it’s indispensable that the prices of energy resources—which have a very important part in the cost price of a product—be equal, be close to one another,” the Armenian PM added. “We are discussing this topic not solely with the Russian colleagues, but also at the meetings of the topmost EAEU economic and intergovernmental councils as well as at other formats.”
