A state representative from the Upper Valley thinks it's time to spruce up New Hampshire’s state flag.
Democrat Timothy Josephson, of Canaan, wants a new commission to redesign the flag.
Josephson said 24 other states have the same standard state seal on a dark blue background, and he'd like to help New Hampshire's banner stand out by adding the old man of the mountain or the state motto, "Live Free or Die.”
"That's not to say I have anything against our current state flag. I have one proudly waving at my house and have since I moved there. But I just think it's time for a refresh, an update,” Josephson said.
House Republican leadership opposes the idea of forming a new commission, saying there are already too many commissions and they like the flag the way it is.
